Plymell retired the side in order in the seventh, but the Dash went down 1-2-3 with a pair of strikeouts in the bottom of the inning. Winston-Salem tacked on another two with a throwing error from shortstop Erik Brito, pulling the game to 7-3. In the bottom of the sixth, Loidel Chapelli knocked an RBI single to right field to draw the Dash within 6. Chase Plymell took over on the mound with two outs and struck out Rixon Wingrove in three pitches to end the inning. With runners on second and third and no outs, Nick Ward launched a 3-run bomb off Dollander to extend the BlueClaws’ lead to 7-0. He issued back-to-back walks to lead off the inning and surrendered a 2-run double in the next at-bat to give Jersey Shore a 4-0 advantage. Hunter Dollander entered in relief for the top of the sixth. The Dash couldn’t manage much offense behind him, however, and remained scoreless with just two hits through 5. In total, Simas went five innings of four-hit, 2-run ball and struck out four. Despite putting runners on first and second with one out, though, Winston-Salem couldn’t cash in and remained scoreless. Simas cruised to a 1-2-3 third with two strikeouts, and the Dash picked up some momentum in the bottom of the inning.
